Marysville's Kids Learn to Swim for Free

Friday 11 December 2009

Marysville and surrounding ‘triangle’ residents will benefit from free learn to swim lessons for the kids as part of the new VICSWIM Summer Kidz program.

In making the announcement at the opening of the refurbished Marysville Pool, Aquatics & Recreation Victoria’s CEO, Mr Ian Swan said, “ARV will offer local kids a week of free learn to swim lessons as part of its VICSWIM Summer Kidz program to help in a small way to rebuild this bushfire affected community”.

“The local town pool is often the focal point for residents and children to gather on hot days, so it’s important to recognise the community building capacity of these types of facilities”, he said.

The program in Marysville will be offered from Monday 11 January to Friday 15 January 2010 as part of ARV’s statewide VICSWIM Summer Kidz community aquatic education program.

“VICSWIM has been going since 1976 and is a valuable resource for ensuring children receive the skills, knowledge and aquatic education they need for their future. This is a wonderful opportunity to provide Marysville and the local residents with a program to help both the kids and parents and we are happy to be able to do it for free.” Swan said.
