New ARV is Launched

They called it a lucky draw but the generously donated “Swim with the Sharks” prize from the Melbourne Aquarium did seem like a punishment to some.  Mind you, it was on the 13th day of the month.  After launching the organisation’s new logo and colours at the Aquarium in May, Chairman of Aquatics & Recreation Victoria, Mr Andrew Hocking, invited Brooke Hanson to draw the lucky winner of the "Swim with the Sharks" prize.

The winner, Jean Kemp, assured us that she was looking forward to the dip!  On the safer side of the night's prizes was an accommodation package which was won by Aaron Tenabel from VicSport and generously provided by The Hotel Windsor - ARV’s new Official Hotel, and a Melbourne Aquarium 'Family Pass' going to Peter Burns from YMCA Victoria

The evening was hosted by Channel 9 Melbourne’s Tony Jones and featured AUSTSWIM’s new Community Service Announcement with Geoff Huegill and Brooke Hanson.  The charismatic Hanson represented AUSTSWIM on the night.

As he launched the new look and feel of ARV, the Chairman of Aquatics & Recreation Victoria, Andrew Hocking, also gave an insight into the new website that has been developed.

“On our new look website www.aquaticsandrecreation.org.au you will see we have revised the membership structure and benefits, developed and advertised a new suite of VICSWIM programs and products, enhanced the delivery of AUSTSWIM programs and will work hard to provide a new focus on industry and recreation services, workshops, seminars and a range of professional development opportunities and strategic consultancy services.” said Mr Hocking.  “The site is a work in progress and we are confident that you will all see it as an industry essential”, he said.

The focus of ARV will be to work and develop partnerships with a range of local governments, state government departments, educational institutions, community groups and peak bodies to bring the industry together.  ARV has a new look, new brand and is:  “Working together for a better industry”
