What is the ‘Better Being’ Program?
The program aims to build on the Commonwealth Government’s Prevention of Type 2 Diabetes Program. This program aims to identify individuals at high-risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes through utilisation of the AUSDRISK tool, and implementing support strategies such as referral to a Lifestyle Modification Program (LMP) to prevent or delay the onset of the disease.
Details of the Lifestyle Modification components of ARV's 'Better Being' Program can be downloaded from the right of screen, along with a more detailed introduction of the project.
Aims of the 'Better Being' Program
The aim of the project is to establish and pilot a physical activity referral framework within Victorian aquatic and recreation facilities, which will increase the capacity of the leisure industry to work with and support primary health care.
ARV's 'Better Being' Exercise Referral Program is aiming to use the health system to set consistent standards and clear referral pathways for sedentary / physically inactive persons ‘at risk’ of lifestyle related health issues (specifically type 2 diabetes) by using aquatic and recreation facilities and lifestyle modification programs.
