What a weekend – 300 ardent aquatic enthusiasts flexed their minds and their muscles at Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre on 19-20 September for ARV AquaSummit 2009, not only to enhance themselves, but the industry in the continuous pursuit of providing the community with ‘an asset for life’.
Thirty eight talented presenters delivered twenty-seven engaging sessions across a range of topics. AquaSummit’s keynote speaker, Dave Dubois was brilliant in setting the tone for the conference – affirming the aquatic and recreational leaders’ value and their ability to provide services with lifelong benefits. Key issues were thrashed out on day two, with the aquatic education and aqua exercise forums giving everyone the opportunity to speak up about the industry’s future direction.
Delegates benefited from the professional developments rewards offered by AUSTWIM, Kinect Australia and Fitness Australia, with Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre again providing a breadth of spaces to cater for any type of session – theoretical or practical, serious or sensational. MSAC’s Champions Room also provided the backdrop for the popular Trade Exhibition and Saturday night’s ‘Happy Hour’.
ARV AquaSummit remains the premier conference for AUSTSWIM Teachers, Aqua Instructors, Duty Managers and Aquatic Coordinators. To complement this key annual event, ARV is now working hard to develop more regular learning opportunities for staff in positions such as these.
