The ARV Industry Conference held at The Hotel Windsor on August 25 and 26, 2011 attracted over 120 delegates. The conference opened with a bang with the two keynote speakers sponsored by Uni SA, Cameron Schwab and Andrew Marty.
Cameron imparted an inspiring tale of leadership, cultural change and his battle from rock bottom to where he is today. This was followed by SACS Consulting MD, Andrew Marty offering advice and anecdotes on the art of using your brain to manage stakeholders, and the importance of a good handshake!
Over the two days, we heard from a diverse and knowledgeable group of industry experts that offered insightful tips and information to help shape the industry’s future. The second day opened with the third keynote speaker sponsored by SGL Group, Grant Donovan, PhD who shared the art of perfecting crucial conversation skills to influence staff.
The strategic stream, sponsored by Victoria University and operational streams ensured that all delegates benefited over the two days addressing key issues and trends in each of the sectors.
Delegates gathered in the newly refurbished Bourke Room during the intervals enjoying the catering on offer while overlooking the city. They also had the opportunity to gain ideas from SKCorp in improving their merchandise and retail centre fit outs.
The Mock Court demonstration at the end of day one exposed the harsh realities and highlighted the seriousness of OHS Contractor Management to delegates. Following an intensive day of valuable information gathering, delegates were able to unwind and catch up with industry colleagues at the popular cocktail function sponsored by Coffey Sport and Leisure.
Aquatics & Recreation Victoria would like to take the opportunity to once again thank all its presenters, facilitators and sponsors for supporting the conference and looks forward to seeing everyone at next year’s conference which promises to be even bigger and better than the last!
