Quality speakers, long-lasting learning outcomes for delegates and a sold-out trade exhibition were the major highlights of another successful ARV Industry Conference, held at the new Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on 27-28 August 2009.
High-calibre keynote speakers including Dr Keith Suter, CommSec’s Craig James, Richard Neville and Gilbert Rochecouste created the foundation for the conference’s revised format, which saw delegates focus on specific strategic and operational management and planning streams through the course of each day.
Suter and James set up the economic and financial discussion on day one, whilst Neville and Rochecouste provided the framework for discussion on the industry’s social and community impact on day two. In total, thirty informative speakers from around Australia imparted their knowledge and experience to delegates as part of the conference’s new structure.
“I really got a lot out of the conference speakers; the whole thing was very worthwhile.” said Phil Freeman, Manager Asset Management and Development, Office for Recreation and Sport (South Australia). Paul Bennett, Leisure Facility Development Officer, City of Boroondara (Victoria), found the new structure to be very successful as “it allowed me to identify the strategic management focus that I was seeking. The list of quality presenters and topics was very relevant to the current issues – the conference was an overall hit.”
A sold-out trade exhibition also illustrated the strength and variety of the industry’s commercial side. Platinum sponsors, Smart Connection Company and Centaman Systems, were two of a number of leading organisations to display their wares. Exhibitors offered a range of products and services including database management strategies, water treatment, through to architectural and engineering advice.
