Information for Employers

Aquatics and Recreation Victoria (ARV) received funding from the Victorian Government through Jobs Victoria to create 270 jobs with the Victorian Aquatics and Recreation Industry by December 2023.

The Next Wave program provides funding to employers to train, support, employ and retain job seekers.

Through a reimbursement model, industry employers will be able to have all expenses in pre- employment training, onboarding and professional development of new staff covered.

 

Employment Opportunities Available

Roles offered will include:

  • Swim Teacher – TSW, INF & TAI
  • Pool Lifeguard
  • Duty Manager
  • Customer Service Officer

Partner Organisations

ARV will co-ordinate the initiative and work with partner organisations to place job seekers in various roles across Victorian Aquatic and Recreation facilities. ARV is partnering with WCIG and Qualify to provide all job seekers with support and job- readiness training.

Priority Cohorts

The aim of the Next Wave Program is to provide entry-level sustainable employment for 270 Victorian residents for a minimum of 12 months from the following priority cohorts:

  • Women over 45 years                                                                    
  • Young people 18-25 years 
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Victorians                  
  • Victorians living with disability
  • People who are long-term unemployed or at risk of being long-term unemployed
  • People seeking asylum and refugees  
  • Veterans
  • Newly arrived migrants from non-English speaking backgrounds
  • People from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds who face additional barriers to employment
  • Public and social housing tenants
  • Jobseekers registered with a Jobs Victoria Partner

Employer Process

The process for Employers to access the Next Wave funding comprises three simple steps. 

Step 1: Submit Expression of Interest (EOI) - CLOSED

Step 2: Register Employee - Closes Sunday 8 October 2023, 11:59pm

Register your Next Wave Employee to secure their spot in the program. 

You will need to supply the following:

  • Signed Jobs Victoria Consent Form
  • Certificate of Currency - Public Liability Insurance
  • Certificate of Currency - WorkCover Insurance

Upon receipt of your registration, ARV will confirm your employee’s acceptance into the program and unique Next Wave ID number.

Step 3: Claim Expenses - Candidate Reserved funds claims closed Sunday 19 November 2023, 11:59pm

Complete this form to claim reimbursement for eligible Next Wave expenses.

Employers will be required to submit an invoice and provide supporting evidence (as requested) to claim eligible Next Wave expenses. Each line item must contain your employee’s unique Next Wave ID number (i.e. First Aid 000000)

ARV will process Next Wave reimbursement claims on a fortnightly basis.
