Information for Employers

Aquatics and Recreation Victoria (ARV) received funding from the Victorian Government through Jobs Victoria to create 270 jobs with the Victorian Aquatics and Recreation Industry by December 2023.

The Next Wave program provided funding to employers to train, support, employ and retain job seekers.

Through a reimbursement model, industry employers were able to have all expenses in pre-employment training, onboarding and professional development of new staff covered.

 

Employment Opportunities Offered

Roles offered included:

  • Swim Teacher – TSW, INF & TAI
  • Pool Lifeguard
  • Duty Manager
  • Customer Service Officer

Partner Organisations

ARV co-ordinated the initiative and worked with partner organisations to place job seekers in various roles across Victorian Aquatic and Recreation facilities. ARV partnered with WCIG and Qualify to provide all job seekers with support and job-readiness training.

Priority Cohorts

The aim of the Next Wave Program was to provide entry-level sustainable employment for 270 Victorian residents for a minimum of 12 months from the following priority cohorts. We were delighted to have delivered 468 jobs by the conclusion of the program in March, 2024.

  • Women over 45 years                                                                    
  • Young people 18-25 years 
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Victorians                  
  • Victorians living with disability
  • People who are long-term unemployed or at risk of being long-term unemployed
  • People seeking asylum and refugees  
  • Veterans
  • Newly arrived migrants from non-English speaking backgrounds
  • People from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds who face additional barriers to employment
  • Public and social housing tenants
  • Jobseekers registered with a Jobs Victoria Partner
