About ARV
Aquatics & Recreation Victoria (ARV) is Victoria’s peak industry body for aquatics and recreation.  The organisation revolves around two major functions; the provision of services to the industry and aquatic and recreation services.  These key elements of the business are supported by internal corporate services and business and marketing departments.
ARV has re-branded and re-positioned itself to ensure it remains relevant and responsive to the industry and partners it represents.  ARV is pursuing a strategy of developing effective relationships with a range of partners across:
  • local government
  • the aquatic and recreation, commercial, health and
  • government sectors

Industry Services
ARV works closely with government and industry bodies to facilitate industry development, research opportunities and studies and conducts special projects on behalf of the industry.
ARV develops partnerships with government and key organisations such as Life Saving Victoria to deliver social marketing programs including Victoria’s effective Play it Safe by the Water, Watch Around Water campaigns and Water Safety Week.
ARV manages the successful Better Being health referral program in partnership with local Councils and General Practitioners.

Strategic Services
ARV provides high level strategic advice to Councils, State Government, schools and industry bodies on current industry matters so that informed decisions can be undertaken, including:
  • aquatic and recreation facility design and infrastructure briefs
  • facility management models and service provision
  • facility management tender evaluation
  • contract management
  • planning for new or upgraded aquatic and recreation facilities
  • recreation department management and service delivery
  • community hub concept development

Aquatic and Recreation Services
ARV conducts state-wide tailored aquatic education and water safety programs for children, CALD communities, special population groups, local communities and schools in partnership with Government, Life Saving Victoria and key community organisations.
These programs are conducted under the successful banner of the VICSWIM brand and include:
  • VICSWIM Summer Kidz
  • VICSWIM Skoolz and
  • VICSWIM Cultural
ARV also provides professional development opportunities for those who work within the industry and pilots new programs to broaden the effective reach of community aquatic and recreation facilities.

  • a facility or associate membership

Your ARV membership also brings with it membership of the new Australian Leisure Facilities Association (ALFA). As ARV is part of ALFA and will be delivering its services in Victoria and Tasmania, you will also receive additional benefits of being part of a national organisation.
