Jump into a new career in Aquatics and Recreation.

Thanks to Jobs Victoria, Aquatics and Recreation Victoria are created 460+ jobs within the Victoria Aquatics and Recreation industry.

Next Wave funded employers to train and employ job seekers.

Participants received paid, nationally accredited training to get them started in their new career. Opportunities were available for mentoring and funding supported purchase of equipment.

ARV coordinated the initiative and placed jobseekers in roles across Victorian Aquatic and recreation facilities.

These roles are versatile, no matter the participants background; for young people, women over 45, those facing long term unemployment, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, those from culturally diverse backgrounds, people with disability and veterans.

We partnered with two key employment services providers to ensure Next Wave candidates are supported and prepared for their new Aquatics and Recreation careers.

WCIG and Qualify provided job seekers with support and job-readiness training.

WCIG covered Metropolitan Melbourne job seekers, while Qualify looked after Regional Victoria.

Key Information

We recruited for four key roles:

  • Swim Teacher
  • Lifeguard
  • Duty Manager
  • Customer Service Officer

The Next Wave Program supported job seekers to get job ready, and then find a job in one of the listed roles above within a Victorian Aquatic and Recreation Facility.

Employers were eligible to have costs incurred in onboarding new employees reimbursed.
